After filming part of our main task- we looked over the shots, and how we thought the idea was going. However all of us agreed that it was more like a TV drama opening therefore we came up with an idea to change it but instead keep it very basic.

Animatics:

After deciding on our plot, the next step to make was planning where we would be filiming- we at first thought we wanted an old fashioned setting for the mise-en-scene in hope that it would make the opening more spooky but then we had some inspiration from other horror opening's and realised more are now set with modern mise-en-scene, so we then decided we would do the filming at Elises. When we arrived we realised this was an ideal location, and it was exactly how we thought it would be so this was really good. Are animatic has been created before filming so therefore none of our costumes are within it.

This is our first opening shot: The gate here will open, and our figure (Ghost-Ellie) will walk through.
The door will then automatically open, as Ellie gets closer.

This is the path the ghost will then follow, the mise-en-scene here will be normal as they're just normal girls.

She will then lead towards the stairs- The camera shot at this point will be pov- (Point of view), it will be forshadow the spookyness and to also signify she's a ghost.

This is the ghosts point of view.
mirrors- this is for the audience to see the quick images of things passing by

Juxtaposition:

Connotes: This is can happen/ suggest/ imply.

Dennotes: This is in other word does happen- "There uniforms denoted they go to school"

Mise-En-Scene: This is like an arrangment of scenery- The mise-en-scene is planned, therefore anything in a TV drama/Movie, is planned. The Mise-en-scene is there to also add to the atmosphere.

Diagetic sound: This is actual sound from within, for example- The characters voices, sounds made by objects within like the: Car noises, radio and TV.

Non diagetic sound: This is commentary sound-music which is added over the top, to add to the atmosphere although the characters can not hear this. An example of when non diagetic sound is used is in 'The persuit of happynes', when Will begins to walk there is a voice over in which says: This part of my life is called running. Therefore the audience knoow what he is doing.

This is our storyboard- This story board, is more detailed compared to our preliminary task as we now know exactly what were using it for. The storyboard show step by step the actions and movements we will be doing, the story board is also a lot more easy to now follow.

Today in class we looked at the opening scenes, of three different police dramas. The three different scenes we looked at were from: New Tricks, Heart-beat and Ashes to Ashes.

To begin we firstly started by watching: New ticks. Within the Mise-En-Scene we firstly notice what the police are wearing, for they're not in uniform but the men's costumes are- formal, and the ladies-modern street style. I think the uniform has a significant overview of the drama as this gives the impression of a relaxed atmosphere. We then notice the setting of the scene; we see this as an un-official work space for there is- Dartboards on the wall and games around the work areas. The Mise-En-Scene how ever, does show the stereotypical view of a police station. The next police drama opening that we watched was: Ashes to Ashes: We firstly notice police officers in the background, sitting down and being lazy with the lady being active, this here is juxtaposition show the women do more within their jobs. The floor in the police stations is white and black; as well as being chequered here this connotes the two colours also known as good and evil. There is also a wall for division within the police station, this is their coffee room, here Alex is now sat down whilst the man walks in and begins to talk to her, in this scene we see posters around the room of girls half naked, from this we perceive police men as lazy. We then watched Heart-Beat: The beginning shot of this scene, is an off-duty woman and a policeman on a date, in the background we see this is the stereotype of a village pub, this straight away denotes to the audience this is a friendly local environment in which everyone knows each other. As well as New Tricks, we notice the background and the outfits; the off-duty police men are dressed casual: leather jackets- this connotes 'cool' for the 1960's.

We then continued, by looking into the sound of each opening scene, we again started with: New tricks. The opening scene firstly begins with an introduction; the music playing throughout the introducing stage is up beat- country and western, this sets and appeals the audience expectations of what to expect. We then once again here music within the auction scene, here the music foreshadows confusion of the plot, the music used here is jazz- this connotes to the audience this is where the development of the plot arises. We then looked into: Ashes to Ashes, the introducing music is iconic, up-beat and faster pace for the story and settings are a lot faster. There is also diagetic sounds throughout such as the: Radio and TV. Following this we then moved on to Heart-beat. The opening scene too starts by introducing all of the characters, beginning with a happy and iconic theme tune. Throughout there is also a lot of diagetic sounds used within the TV and radio.

After looking into the sound we decided to look at the shot types used we again decided to firstly look at: New tricks, to start with there were many close up of the main group of police, when having discussion, in this scene as well as this there was also point of view shots- these shots were used when the main lady was putting pictures of the suspects on to the white board in the middle- here the police are investigating she puts the pictures up and each time looks behind her this is the point of view shot as we see what she’s looking at and then this turns and we are then able to see what there views upon the situation is. When she’s putting the pictures up, there is use of over the shoulder shots- this allows the audience to have a wider view of the action and what exactly is going on. Whilst looking at the shot-types we also looked at the composition of shots; the woman who appears to be the only woman police officer is for grounded in the centre- this connotes to the audience leadership.  We then moved on to: Ashes to Ashes: Within ashes to ashes many medium shots were used- this shot is a shot purposely for the audience to see emotions and the characters body language- more involvement. There is also many (Point of view shots) - In which these are the main characters in the scene’s (Alex’s) point of view. There is also a variety distance shots- for example when Alex and the main police man have a conversation in the ‘coffee room. We then moved on to: Heart-beat; the first shot that begins heart beat is a two shot- a two shot is when there is two faces, the two people were having dinner and within there was also a point of view shot- the camera would always show the person who wasn’t talking’s shoulder and head. We also through looking at the shot types saw juxtaposition of the women the sergeant had taken out for dinner admiring him and his professional coldness.

We then moved on to look at the editing for all three: New tricks had fast transitions to start, with to establish the characters but however the pace of the scene was very slow. This means the story took more time to establish however the characters were established very quickly, we then moved on to ashes to ashes: This was a fast up beat scene, with fast transitions and a quick pace throughout however this meant the focus was a mid muddles and hard to catch up. We then looked at Heart-beat, heart beat had longer scenes than the previous two- slow and smooth. However the locations similar to the other two change quickly.

Plot:

Our opening scene begins with a gate opening, and then following by the door sliding open; but in affect it will look like the door has opened by its self, we then watch as a figure walks up the stairs. She then walks into a room, in which one person in doing there make-up and the other in the bath, though no-one other than the audience can see this figure, the two girls are oblivious. For the middle climax the story will get more 'spooky' as whilst we have been looking at film opening, we see that they either begin with high climax or low, as movies tend to have tension then suddenly everythings fine, then tension again. We're developing are spookyness to to keep the audience on edge, we finish by showing the girls are now possesed. The genre of our movie opening in horror.

In are lesson following on from beginning to plan our main tasks, we have started to develop our ideas on to paper. Whilst suggesting ideas we though this would be helpful, as a reminder so that we include anything that we’ve though of instead of forgetting it. From previously doing our preliminary task we’ve realised we have to be a lot more organised than we were to ensure we have time at the end to improve anything we may need too.

Shot types so far- Medium shots, long shots and tracking shots. A long with shot-types; we've also worked out where they will be and how to do these.

Beginning to plan- Main tasks.

Yesterday we began to start planning our main task- We realise now, from doing out preliminary task what we need to do in order to make it better, and fit the exam requests a lot more in depth. As a group, we have arranged to meet up so we can start our work on it as soon as possible, in order to have time left over to re-do anything we need to and get feedback, to ensure that we get the best grades possible. We are really excited about making our main task, we have also been assigned a homework- this includes looking at other main tasks, so we know what a main task includes and how they've done it, I'm also going to look at many films again and TV dramas to see the difference so that we can make that difference significant and obvious in ours, in order to fit the requirements. As this was a double lesson we also watched a TV drama called spooks- when watching this are aim was to write notes on the: Mise-en-scene, Sound, Shot-types and Editing. I find this particularly useful as it's showing us, how important all of these things are in the shot/shots for are main tasks.

Cherwell media preliminary task ellie elise connie and sarah

Preliminary task By- Ellie, Elise, Connie and Sarah.
This is our preliminary task, I really enjoyed creating it however I think there are many things we can do in our main task to improve. There are certain moments in our prelim task that give the audience, watching an atmosphere such as: When Elise is walking through the corridorvery slowly, along with the music in which each beat of the music doubles with her footsteps. The track that we used for the beginning to the end of the preliminary task was called ‘Moonlight’, we felt this gave tension to Elise’s every move and the tension built up as it went along. Throughout we had so much fun, and it was a real eye-opener we can't wait to begin on our main task.

The Art Of Film Title Design Throughout Cinema History.

The first paragraph is asking us what makes us remember a certain movie or film? I think we remember a film or TV show by whether we like it, or if the images strike to us as different. The second paragraph is telling us that we will now be talking about our first reactions- looking at the short space of time between the moment the light goes down and the first scene of the film; this is one of the most important parts of the filmm, as this sets the rest of our reactions for the rest of the film.
